Who we are
About Top Cleaners
We started Top Cleaners because we were tired of reading vacuum reviews that read like press releases. You know the ones. "This revolutionary device transforms your cleaning experience." No it doesn't. It's a vacuum. It either picks up dirt well or it doesn't.
We're a small team of people who genuinely care about finding good cleaning equipment. Some of us have pets. Some have kids. One of us has both plus hardwood floors that show every speck of dust. We test this stuff in our actual homes, not in a lab with controlled conditions.
How we test
Every product we review gets used for at least two to three weeks in a real home. We don't do 20-minute unboxing reviews. Here's what our testing process looks like:
- Setup and first impressions - How easy is it to get going? Is the app terrible? Do you need an engineering degree to read the manual?
- Daily use - We run the product as part of our normal cleaning routine. Robot vacuums run on a schedule. Cordless vacuums get used for regular cleanup.
- Edge cases - Pet hair, cereal spills, that weird gap between the fridge and the counter. The stuff that actually matters.
- Long term check-in - We revisit products after a few months. Some things that seem great at first start showing problems. We update our reviews when that happens.
How we make money
Full transparency here. We make money through affiliate links and sponsored content. When you click a product link in our reviews and buy something, we may earn a commission. This doesn't cost you anything extra.
We also offer sponsored content opportunities for brands. But here's the thing: sponsored content is always clearly labeled, and we never let a sponsorship change our honest opinion. If a product stinks, we'll say so, even if the company paid for a feature.
We never do pay-for-play reviews. If a company sends us a product to review, we disclose that. But the review is ours and we write what we actually think.
