Best Cordless Vacuum Cleaners 2026

We compared the top cordless vacuums on suction, battery life, weight, and how they handle real-world cleaning jobs.

Cordless vacuums have gotten good enough that most people don’t need a corded one anymore. The battery life is there, the suction is there, and you don’t have to deal with dragging a cord from outlet to outlet. Here are the ones we’d actually recommend after testing them all.

Best overall: Dyson V15 Detect

Yeah, Dyson is expensive. We know. But the V15 Detect earns its price tag in ways the older models didn’t. The laser dust detection on the floor head isn’t just a gimmick. It actually helps you see where the dirt is, especially on hard floors where fine dust is invisible under normal lighting.

Suction is best in class and the auto-adjust feature works well. It ramps up the power when it hits a dirty area and dials it back on clean floors, which helps the battery last longer. We got about 55 to 60 minutes on the standard setting cleaning a mix of carpet and hardwood.

The main downside is weight. At 6.8 pounds it’s not heavy exactly, but after 20 minutes of cleaning above your head (curtains, ceiling fans) your arm will let you know. The trigger-style power button also gets old. You have to hold it down the entire time you’re vacuuming.

Best for pet hair: Samsung Bespoke Jet AI

We have two dogs in our main test home and the Samsung handled their hair better than anything else we tested. The anti-tangle brush head actually works, and the spinning brush on the mini motorized tool pulls pet hair off upholstery without wrapping around the roller.

Battery life is generous at around 70 minutes on standard mode. The self-emptying charging station is a nice touch, though it’s big and takes up more closet space than you’d want.

The AI features Samsung talks about in their marketing are honestly hard to notice in daily use. We think the vacuum adjusts its suction based on floor type but it’s subtle. It cleans well regardless so we’re not going to knock it for overselling a feature.

Best value: Shark Stratos

The Shark Stratos does 90% of what the Dyson does at about half the price. Suction is strong, the odor-neutralizing cartridge is a nice bonus if you have pets, and the anti-hair-wrap technology works as advertised.

The downsides: it’s heavier at 8.3 pounds, the battery life is shorter at around 50 minutes, and the build quality doesn’t feel quite as premium. The dustbin is also smaller so you’ll empty it more often on big cleaning jobs.

For most people though, this is the right buy. The performance gap between this and the Dyson is small. The price gap is not.

Budget pick: Tineco Pure One A50S

If you want a decent cordless vacuum and you don’t want to spend more than $200, the Tineco gets the job done. Suction is adequate for hard floors and low-pile carpet. It struggles a bit on thick carpet but so does every vacuum at this price.

Battery life is around 40 minutes which is enough for a small to medium apartment. Build quality is plastic-y but it hasn’t broken on us after three months of regular use.

Tips for buying a cordless vacuum

  • Think about where you’ll store it. Wall-mounted charging docks are convenient but you need a drill and a wall. Floor-standing docks take up space.
  • Battery life matters more than suction for most people. If the battery dies halfway through your house, all the suction in the world doesn’t help.
  • Test the weight yourself if you can. Numbers on a spec sheet don’t tell you how it actually feels in your hand. Balance matters as much as raw weight.
  • Buy an extra battery if it’s available. Having a spare charged and ready means you can clean the whole house in one go.
