Best Robot Vacuums of 2026
We tested 12 robot vacuums over three months. Here are the ones worth buying and the ones you should skip.
We’ve been running robot vacuums in our test homes since January, and at this point we’ve tried pretty much every major model that came out this year. Some are great. Some are expensive paperweights. Here’s where things stand.
Our top picks for 2026
After months of testing, three models stood out from the pack. We judged them on navigation accuracy, suction power, noise levels, app quality, and how well they handled real messes like cereal, pet hair, and that weird dust that collects under furniture.
Best overall: Dreame X50 Ultra
The Dreame X50 Ultra is the robot vacuum we’d buy with our own money if we had to pick just one. The navigation is scary good. It mapped our test home on the first run and barely bumped into anything, even chair legs and shoes left on the floor.
Suction tops out at 12,000 Pa, which is more than you need for daily cleaning but comes in handy for deep carpet cleaning. The self-emptying dock works well and the mopping function is surprisingly competent. It won’t replace a proper mop for stuck-on messes, but for daily maintenance it does the job.
What we liked:
- Best-in-class navigation
- Strong suction on both carpet and hard floors
- Self-emptying dock holds about two weeks of dirt
- Mopping pads lift when it hits carpet
What could be better:
- The app has too many menus and settings
- Dock is pretty big, so you need a decent amount of wall space
- Price tag is steep at around $1,200
Best mid-range: Roborock Q Revo
If you want something good without spending over a grand, the Roborock Q Revo hits the sweet spot. Navigation is solid though not quite as precise as the Dreame. Suction is strong enough for everyday messes and it handles transitions between hard floors and carpet without issues.
The app is one of the better ones we’ve used. Clean interface, easy to set no-go zones, and the scheduling works reliably. We’ve had some robot vacuums that randomly skip scheduled runs and that hasn’t happened once with this one.
Price: Around $600-700 depending on where you buy it.
Best budget pick: iLife A80 Max
Under $200 and it actually works. That’s rare. The iLife A80 Max doesn’t have fancy LiDAR navigation, but its bump-and-go system covers rooms better than you’d expect. It missed some corners in our testing, but it gets the main floor areas clean.
No self-emptying dock, no mopping, no fancy app features. Just a robot that vacuums your floors at a price that won’t make you nervous if your dog decides to attack it.
What about iRobot Roomba?
iRobot had a rough couple of years. The Roomba j9+ is fine, but it’s overpriced compared to what Dreame and Roborock offer. You’re paying a premium for the brand name at this point. The navigation is good but the suction doesn’t match the competition, and the self-emptying dock is louder than it needs to be.
If you already own a Roomba and it works well, there’s no rush to switch. But if you’re buying new, there are better options for the money.
Robot vacuum buying tips for 2026
A few things we’ve learned from testing all these models:
- LiDAR navigation is worth paying for. The bump-and-go models work okay for small spaces but LiDAR models clean more efficiently and miss fewer spots.
- Self-emptying docks are a nice convenience, not a necessity. If you’re on a budget, skip the dock and empty the bin yourself. It takes 30 seconds.
- Mopping features are improving but still limited. Great for maintenance, not great for actual dirty floors.
- Check the replacement part prices before you buy. Some brands charge crazy amounts for brushes and filters.
The bottom line
2026 is a good year for robot vacuums. Competition is fierce and prices are coming down on features that used to be premium-only. The Dreame X50 Ultra is our top pick if budget isn’t a concern. The Roborock Q Revo is the smart money choice. And the iLife A80 Max proves you don’t need to spend a fortune to get a decent clean.
We’ll update this page as we test more models throughout the year.
