Best Robot Vacuums for Pet Hair 2026

We tested robot vacuums in homes with dogs and cats to find which ones actually handle pet hair without clogging or tangling.

If you have pets, you already know the deal. Hair everywhere, all the time. We tested a bunch of robot vacuums in homes with dogs and cats to figure out which ones actually keep up with the fur.

What makes a robot vacuum good for pet hair

Before we get into specific models, here’s what separates a good pet hair vacuum from a bad one:

  • Rubber extractors instead of bristle brushes. Bristle brushes wrap hair around the roller and need constant cleaning. Rubber extractors are way better at pulling hair in without tangling.
  • Strong suction. Pet hair gets embedded in carpet fibers. You need at least 5,000 Pa of suction to pull it out consistently.
  • A decent-sized dustbin. Pet homes generate more debris. A tiny bin means the vacuum fills up mid-run and stops cleaning.
  • Self-emptying dock. Not required, but honestly if you have pets it’s worth the extra money. Otherwise you’re emptying the bin every day.

Our top picks

Best for pet hair overall: Dreame X50 Ultra

We already called this our best overall robot vacuum and it earns that title with pets too. The rubber dual-roller system handles pet hair without tangling, suction is more than strong enough, and the self-emptying dock means you can go a couple weeks without thinking about it.

The one pet-specific feature we appreciate is the carpet boost mode. When it detects carpet, it automatically increases suction to pull embedded hair out. We tested this by sprinkling dog hair on a medium-pile rug and running the vacuum over it three times. It picked up roughly 95% of the hair, which is about as good as it gets for a robot.

Best mid-range for pets: Ecovacs Deebot T30S

The Ecovacs Deebot T30S punches above its weight when it comes to pet hair. The anti-tangle brush system works well and we rarely had to manually clean the roller during our testing period. Suction at 11,000 Pa is more than enough.

The app lets you set pet-specific cleaning schedules, which is handy. We set ours to run every day at noon when the house is empty and the dogs are at daycare. By the time everyone gets home, the floors are clean.

Price: Around $700-800.

Best budget for pets: Eureka E20 Plus

Under $300 and it has a self-emptying dock. The Eureka E20 Plus is the best budget option for pet owners right now. The navigation isn’t as sophisticated as the more expensive models so it bumps into things more often, but it gets the hair up and that’s what matters.

The brush design handles long hair and pet fur without tangling too badly. We did need to clean the roller about once a week, which is more often than the premium models but acceptable at this price.

Models we’d avoid for pet homes

Roomba 694/697 series: Too weak on suction and the bristle brush tangles with pet hair constantly.

Any robot vacuum under $150 with a bristle brush. Just don’t. You’ll spend more time cleaning the brush than the robot spends cleaning your floor.

Pet owner tips

  • Run your robot vacuum daily. Seriously, daily. Pet hair accumulates fast and it’s way easier for the robot to handle a day’s worth than a week’s worth.
  • Keep the sensors clean. Pet fur and dander can gum up the cliff sensors and cause the vacuum to act weird.
  • Consider one robot per floor if you have a multi-story home. Carrying a robot up and down stairs defeats the purpose.
  • Get a model with washable filters and clean them monthly. Pet dander clogs filters faster than normal dust.

We test new models regularly and we always test with pets in the home. Check back for updates as new vacuums come out.
